JAMES 2:10

For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

 

1.    Whosoever

A.   Strong (3748):  any that

B.    Thayer:  whoever

C.   Vine:  whomsoever

 

2.    Keep

A.   Strong (5083):  to keep an eye upon…figuratively to fulfill a command

B.    Thayer:  to attend to carefully, take care of…to observe

C.   Vine:  to observe, give heed to, as of keeping commandments

 

3.    Whole

A.   Strong (3650):  whole, all, that is, complete (in extent, amount, time or degree)

B.    Thayer:  all, whole, completely

C.   Vine:  all, whole

 

4.    Law

A.   Strong (3551):  law…regulation…principle

B.    Thayer:  anything established…a law, command…a law producing a state approved of God…the Christian religion:  the law demanding faith, the moral instruction given by Christ

C.   Vine:  law…law as decreed by a state and set up as the standard of administrative justice

 

5.    Offend

A.   Strong (4417):  to trip…to err, sin, fail

B.    Thayer:  to stumble, to err, make a mistake, to sin

C.   Vine:  to stumble with moral significance

 

6.    Guilty

A.   Strong (1777):  liable to (a condition, penalty or imputation)

B.    Thayer:  guilty, worthy of punishment

C.   Vine:  lit., held in, bound by, liable to a charge or action at law

 

7.   All

A.   Strong (3956):  all, …every, the whole

B.    Thayer:  each, every, any, all, the whole…all things

C.   Vine:  all, the whole
