My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations.
1. My brethren
A. Strong (80): a brother
B. Thayer: a brother, a fellow believer, united to another by the bond of affection
C. Vine: male children of the same parents…all believers
2. Count
A. Strong (2233): to deem, that is, consider
B. Thayer: to consider, deem, account, think
C. Vine: literally, to lead before the mind, account
3. Joy
A. Strong (5479): cheerfulness, that is calm delight
B. Thayer: joy, gladness
C. Vine: joy, delight
4. Fall into
A. Strong (4045): to fall into something that is all around…be surrounded with
B. Thayer: so to fall into as to be encompassed
C. Vine: literally, to fall around, hence signifies to fall in with
5. Divers
A. Strong (4164): motley, that is, various in character
B. Thayer: various colours, variegated, of various sorts
C. Vines: denotes parti-coloured, variegated…manifold
6. Temptations
A. Strong (3986): a putting to the proof…by experience of evil
B. Thayer: an experiment, attempt, trial, proving…the trial of man’s fidelity, integrity, virtue, constancy…adversity, affliction, trouble: sent by God and serving to test or prove one’s character, faith, holiness
C. Vines: of trials of temptations, Divinely permitted or sent
