TODAY'S DEVOTIONAL

January 19, 2020

Revelation 2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

Thought: There are two points that are very important in this verse. First, Jesus knows our faults. We cannot hide our errors from Him with all of the good we have done. Second, Jesus does not hesitate to point out where we fall short. Ephesus had left their first love. What this means precisely is difficult to determine. Their first love should have been the Christ. Could it be that they were deeply concerned about getting things right outwardly, but inwardly their hearts had grown cold?

Matthew 22:37-38
